**The Opportunity**:
EPCC is the UK’s leading centre for Supercomputing and Data Science service provision. We host and manage leading edge systems such as the UK’s national supercomputing service (ARCHER2) and the Edinburgh International Data Facility (EIDF).

The summer internship programme provides a platform to learn about how our complex site works. As a 38MW site with a hugely diverse collection of high-powered supercomputing systems and services, this opportunity is unique and exciting.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an electrical engineering student to gain an insight into some of the most complex Data Centre engineering in the country.

A priority focus will be reviewing strategic electrical changes and updating DesOps documentation on metering and electrical layout information for how our core infrastructure works in our plant and computer rooms. The role will be based at the Advanced Computing Facility in Midlothian. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly and dynamic organisation that is at the forefront of technology innovation.

This internship is part of the Employ.ed on Campus is run by the Careers Service in collaboration with University departments and Schools. It offers exclusive summer internships at the University over the summer for 2nd year to penultimate year undergraduate students from the University of Edinburgh based in the UK. You cannot take part if you are a visiting student, or you have already taken part in the programme before. Expected commencement date**:June 3rd 2024**

This post is full time (35 hours per week) and fixed term over a 12 week period, however, we are open to considering a more flexible approach to suit.

**Your skills and attributes for success**:

- An enthusiasm and interest to learn about large-scale Data Centre & Building Services infrastructure
- Working towards a suitable degree in Electrical Engineering
- Awareness of industry best practices, standards and regulations.
- An interest in developing data centre strategies that drive efficiency, performance, and sustainability.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
