We are seeking an experienced Family Support Worker to undertake direct and intensive work with families of our young pupils with neurodiverse identities. By undertaking this work as part of our innovative FaST programme (Families and School Together) you will enable positive changes and improve educational and wellbeing outcomes for young people with the most complex of needs.

As a TCES Family Support Worker (FSW), you will be providing direct input to a managed caseload of pupils with ASC & SEMH and their families. Working within the setting, the community and pupils’ homes, you’ll work intensively with families to enable positive change,and improve educational and wellbeing outcomes for children with the most complex needs.

The broad range of areas in which you will support young people and their families will include maintaining physical health, meeting emotional needs, keeping children safe, attendance and engagement, connecting with social support networks, accessing education and learning, maintaining boundaries, and reducing challenging behaviour, managing family routines, maintaining home and parental resilience, and addressing contextual risks. You’ll also conduct family assessments for pupils on our assessment programme and those open to our targeted and intensive FAST offer.

TCES is an independent provider of specialist education based in London supporting exceptional neurodiverse children and young people aged 7 to 19 who have special educational needs and disabilities typically associated with autism, social emotional and mental health needs and associated disorders. Most of them will have experienced multiple placement breakdowns and significant trauma, often resulting in behaviour that challenges. On average pupils will have been excluded from other provisions up to three times before reaching us and had significant periods out of education.

TCES pupils learn at one of our four schools or within our Home Learning service; Create Learning and Create Learning Primary support our most complex and vulnerable pupils, with highly differentiated and personalised holistic education programmes developed for each pupil focusing on developmental milestones. When they are ready, we aim for pupils to step down from Create into one of our main schools.

**Essential requirements to be successful in the role are**:

- Be a positive role model.
- High levels of emotional intelligence and resilience.
- Demonstrable success in supporting highly complex and high-risk children with neurodiverse identities, including children with SEMH/ASC, and their families and wider social circle, with understanding of potential implications for communication, learning and behaviour.
- Experience in conducting comprehensive strengths-based assessments of young people and their families.
- Hold NVQ Level 3 or above in Family Support, Social Work, Youth Work or a related field.
