We are looking to recruit an experienced part-time Counsellor/Therapist within the Child & Family Counselling Service (C&FCS) at GCS to work primarily from our Cheltenham venue. You will be part of an experienced and expanding team looking forward to further growth. GCS are looking for a dynamic Counsellor/Therapist to join the shaping of this development.

Gloucestershire Counselling Service (GCS) are recruiting for a Diploma Theory Tutor who will deliver a theory module to a year 2 cohort. The Diploma Theory Tutor is integral to the Diploma staff team and supports the development of trainees in their contributions within seminars, review meetings and reports. They are also responsible for the Theory Module - teaching and facilitating the curriculum as outlined by GCS, drawing upon their own individual expertise and style. Experienced and qualified psychodynamic counsellors or psychoanalytic psychotherapists (BACP, UKCP, BCP registered or equivalent).

A teaching / training qualification is desirable (e.g., BACP Accredited Trainer; PGCE; Cert.Ed. or B.Ed.) but not essential.

Experience of facilitating enquiry & discussion within a learning environment.

Experience of academic writing at Diploma Level.

Marking within a set criterion and supporting development of learning outcomes within a teaching environment.

Expanded theoretical work beyond Diploma Level in further training or CPD.

Experience of and adherence to the BACP Ethical Framework of Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Competent IT Skills

An up-to-date awareness of the changing legal and regulatory requirements within counselling and psychotherapy.

Understanding and adherence to the law regarding copyright and plagiarism, accurately citing sources for intellectual material used in the curriculum.

To have a curiosity, enthusiasm and interest in the theoretical underpinnings of psychodynamic work and the ability to explain, and make sense of, complex concepts to trainees at Diploma level.

Demonstrate the ability to assess trainees appropriately within a framework.

Self-management skills including organisational skills and time-keeping.
