Do you have a passion for working with children and families struggling with mental health and emotional difficulties? Do you wish to be part of a growing supportive and innovative team that works across Kent and Medway? If so, an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (Trainee) Practitioner role has arisen to join our NELFT general adolescent unit (KMAH).
KMAH is a 14 bedded general adolescent unit with 3 eating disorder pathway beds included. We are a multi skilled and professional MDT at KMAH who strive to support and achieve the best possible outcomes for those admitted to our care and prepare them for discharge back into the community. We work closely with all services within NEFLT including localities, all age eating disorder services and neuro developmental and learning disability services. We also have a health based place of safety for patients detained under section 136 of the MHA on site.
Within the NELFT KMAH and IHT we have a strong focus on training and research and team members benefit from excellent training and CPD opportunities focused around developing exceptional NICE concordant skills in working with children and young people with diagnoseable mental difficulties. CYPMHS across Kent and Medway has strong links to CYP-IAPT training courses and leadership opportunities.
The post-holder will hold a core profession to ensure they can become accredited in DBT following completion of required training. The role will work as part of a small established Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Consult team. The post holder will work very closely with other professionals within NELFT services, our provider collaborative, other healthcare services, social care and education stakeholders.
The remit of the DBT Consult team is to offer young people referred into the service a consistent evidence-based therapeutic approach, to reduce inpatient admissions and to support the quick transitions of those in an inpatient service back to the DBT and IHT Service. The service will be expected to liaise with all CYPMHS services to ensure clear transitions for young people entering or leaving the DBT Service and where appropriate supporting the transition to Adult Services.
