Our client who are within the education sector based in Stroud are looking for a Head of Governance and Policy to join their experienced and supportive team on a full time permanent basis.

You will be responsible for the strategic development of the governance and compliance functions across the trust, advising the Board in accordance with regulatory requirements. Be accountable to the board through the Chief Executive Officer and will give sound, well researched advice and guidance to secure the statutory responsibilities are fulfilled affectively.

**Responsibilities**:

- Maintain an annual Board and Governors yearly planner, clearly noting all items to be reviewed
- Maintain the records of all Trustee and Governor appointments and resignations
- Work with the Clerk to co-ordinate the administration of the Boards of Trustees and Committees
- Ensure that all papers have standard formatting and are distributed in a timely manner
- Review the minutes of all Board and Committee meetings
- Attend all meetings and ensure that all actions are carried out effectively in a timely manner
- Conduct skills audit and advise on training requirement
- Ensure high standards of local governance through quality assuring, supporting and challenging Governors, Senior Leadership Teams and Clerks
- Work with educational senior executives to ensure the work of local governors complements the Trust’s school improvement activities
- Ensure that Chairs and Governors are prepared to effectively manage their role in Ofsted visits, with briefing papers and support meetings available at short notice
- Support Governors in preparing KPIs of the School Development Boards
- Oversight of the recruitment and retention of new Governors in a supportive capacity to the Headteachers
- To own and maintain the continuous development of Trust and School policies and compliance
- Oversee the complaints procedure both at Trust and School level
- Carry out trust wide compliance checks as and when directed by the CEO
- Lead by example with presence, integrity, creativity, resilience, and clarity

**Hours** - 37 hours per week

**Salary** - up to £51,515 depending on experience + flexible working + enhanced pension + company socials + 24.5 days annual leave
