Job Summary:
As a Horticulture Manager at M G Webber West Country Grown Ltd, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the cultivation and maintenance of high-quality plants. You will lead a team dedicated to horticultural excellence and contribute to the dynamic growth of our wholesale nursery.
- **Responsibilities**:_
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the nursery, including planting, watering, and fertilizing plants.
- Taking plant orders for garden centres, picking and dispatching these as guided from the hub site
- Supervise a team of horticultural staff, providing guidance and training as needed.
- Using horticultural equipment
- Spraying crops as needed
- Oversee irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of plants.
- Monitor plant growth and health, taking necessary actions to address any issues promptly.
- Monitoring which crops are ready for sale or should be removed
- **Requirements**:_
- Experience in horticulture (Ideally in bedding plant production)
- Knowledge of irrigation systems and horticultural equipment
- Strong understanding of plant growing processes
- Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively.
- Passion for horticulture and dedication to maintaining high standards of plant quality
- Spraying Certificate
- Knowledge of pests & diseases (What chemicals to use for each)
- Effective communication skills to liaise with team members and other departments.
