Provide visible leadership to the Antenatal clinic.
Be a confident leader with excellent communication skills, having the capabilities to diffuse escalating concerns from both women, their families and staff.
In the absence of the ANC manager to lead team meetings, disseminate directorate and Trust information and act as the voice of the ANC staff.

We are looking to appoint a Deputy Manager for antenatal clinic at both City and QMC.

This is a very exciting opportunity to develop your leadership and managerial skills. The role is to provide visible leadership to antenatal clinic and to co-ordinate the clinic on a daily basis. This is across site role so the successful applicant will be expected to work on both sites.

We have a caring and supportive team of midwives dedicated to the delivery of effective patient care. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work flexibly as part of a team are essential. You will be required to prioritise your workload and work well as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.

This is a clinical role with allocated hours to the deputy role. You must be a band 6 midwife, with the passion to continually improve the care we offer.

**Detailed job description and main responsibilities**:
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure high quality, evidence-based care is offered to all women and, in
collaboration with the Clinic manager, identify the common issues which affect the quality of care, devising clear action plans to address any shortcomings ensuring agreed action is undertaken.

Ensure that all women have a satisfactory experience by evaluating patient processes and redesigning the pathway of care.

Improve and maintain standards of essential (basic) midwifery care by working with the Clinic manager and using tools such as clinical benchmarking.

Support the Clinic manager & audit/research Midwife in ensuring clinical audit takes place in line with the Trust’s requirements to improve practice.

Act as a role model and teacher, working alongside other staff and students in the clinical area.

Work with the Clinic Manager to identify hazards relating to clinical and non-clinical risks and undertake identified risk assessments. Ensure that team members also see this as important by maintaining a culture which will support the delivery of both clinical and non-clinical governance within the Team.

Along with the Clinic manager, support the team in completing appropriate risk assessments and develop action plans accordingly in order to provide a safe environment for the delivery of high quality patient care.

Along with the Clinic manager ensure that all midwifery documentation is regularly and appropriately reviewed and updated with changes implemented.

To ensure that day to day staffing levels are safe and appropriate and where this is not met to ensure that all concerns are escalated to the appropriate person and in the absence of any antenatal services manager to liaise directly with the Matron for the service.
