**Job overview**:
To assist and support the Right Start and School Nursing Service in the delivery of Oldham Right Start Early Years offer and the School Nurse led Healthy Child Programme - 5-19 years.

**Main duties of the job**:
1. Work as part of a skill mixed Team following agreed protocols.
2. Provide support to deliver the core Universal contacts of the Healthy Child Programme 5-19.
3. Provide appropriate, evidenced based advice to families, in the school or home setting, on a range of topics/issues.
4. Provide Brief Interventions as identified
5. Help to organise and support Primary School drop-ins where the Right Start & School Nursing Assistant is deemed by the School Nurse/PHCN to be to be the most suitable person.
6. Provide timely feedback to the named School Nurse/PHCN on work carried out in the Drop in/School.
7. Manage issues of a sensitive nature (eg Safeguarding) observing information security and confidentiality following Policies and Procedures laid down by the Trust.
8. Reports to the appropriate School Nurse/PHCN when there are any concerns about a child (this includes; physical/emotional or developmental condition of child, environmental concerns etc.)
9.Adhere to Local Safeguarding policy and procedure to enable relevant referrals to be made to Children’s Social Care under the supervision of the SN/PHCN.

10.Delivery of NCMP, in named schools under the direction of the School Nurse/PHN
11.Support delivery of all national screening programmes undertaken by the School Nursing Service

- Appropriate Certificate in Healthcare/Child Care education (min level 3 or equivalent) e.g. Diploma in Childcare and Education

**Experience**:

- Experience of working collaboratively across teams, agencies, and organisational boundaries
- Recent experience of Working with Children/Young People/Families Health Promotion work

**Desirable criteria**:

- Experience of working in health or social care setting with children.

**Skills and Knowledg**:

- Ability to organise and prioritise own workload without direct supervision
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Computer literacy/competent use of electronic patient record
- Able to demonstrate knowledge of safeguarding procedures and legislation for children and young people.
- Understanding of confidentiality
- Understands the expected pattern of child growth and development
- Understands how children’s health, growth, learning and development can be affected by their stage of development and individual circumstances
