Peer Support Worker

We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time, permanent Peer Support Worker within The Community Addiction Recovery Service in South Lanarkshire.
The Community Addiction Recovery Service (CARS) provide harm reduction, interventions and treatment to people adversely affected by alcohol and drugs. The service delivers an integrated model of care and is staffed by colleagues from two different organisations - NHSL and SLC. The service operates in all four South Lanarkshire localities and each team is managed by a health or a social work colleague.
- Have a SVQ 3 in health/social care or working towards, or equivalent experience working in a health/social care role, or have personal experience of adversity caused by substance use
- Be willing to work over 7 days across Lanarkshire
**Knowledge, training and/or / experience required to do the job**:
- Have a working/living knowledge and understanding of the consequences and impact of adverse substance use (physical, social, environmental)
- Experience of working within alcohol and drug field either as a paid worker or as a recognised volunteer.
- Undertake full management of aggression training with updates
- Ability to work with people and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to carry out assigned tasks effectively in a busy environment
- Ability to undertake training supporting use of computers and locally used data gathering tools
- Ability to work unsupervised
