The Team

We are committed to providing the highest level of care and believe that the team is the core to achieving this. We provide regular training, appraisals and supervision. Time and commitment are given to the development and progression of every individual working as part of the Blossom Care team.

Job description

Responsible for working alongside the Manager of children's residential home. Ensuring that our service users receive the highest standard of support/care appropriate to their individual needs.

Training

We will provide training required for the role including being put through Level 3, 4 or 5 QCF/NVQ Residential Childcare Qualification.

Blossom Care Group is committed to the health, safety, welfare, wellbeing and development of the young people and children; it has a duty of care too.

Main Duties:

- A genuine empathy for young people, supporting them to achieve their goals and ambitions
- Build and develop relationships with our young people and encourage them to participate fully in the opportunities offered within the home
- Plan and participate fully in a working rota, this will include evenings, sleep inns and weekends
- Build strong working relationships with external agencies such as Local Authorities and other Health/Social Care professionals
- Conduct formal key work sessions with young people and produce reports for each session
- Be responsible for the effective Safeguarding of the young people within your care and understand how to raise any concerns
- Support our young people with everyday day tasks such as cooking, cleaning, medical appointments, meetings etc.

Shift patters are normally:
1 day on and 2 days off. This will be either be 10 or 11 shifts per month (dependent upon the number of days in the month) + min 6 sleep inns

A typical 11 shift month with 8 sleeps and 1 bank shift per month & signing bonus of £500 pays £ 31,100.00 first year earnings

Overtime is paid after completing 170 working hours in the month.

Signing Bonus for qualified staff is £500

On Call cover is paid at £35 per night

Sleeps inns are paid at £60 per sleep in

Ideal experience preferred:

- Experience of working within a children and young adult residential environment
- An understanding of relevant legislation relating to the care of young people
- Experience of working with young people that have social, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties

Should have:

- Full driving license - Ideally
- Own transport - Ideally
- Available to work at least 3 shifts in a week and sleep ins
- DBS Certificate (preferred)
- DBS Update Service (preferred)

**Level 3 Diploma/NVQ’s;**

Residential Childcare or Children and Young People’s Workforce Diploma with Social Care Pathway or Caring for Children and Young People or Health & Social Care - (prior 2014).

OR

**Level 4 Diploma/NVQ’s;**

Leadership and Management for Care Services or Health and Social Care (Children’s Pathway)

OR

**Level 5 Diploma/NVQ’s;**

Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services with Advanced Practice Pathway or Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services with Children and Young People’s Residential Management Pathway
