Role

The Device Lead is a key member of the Technology Engineering function, supporting DCC programs by managing a team of technical experts. The Device Lead Manages resource and non-resource budget of circa £3M.

What will you be doing?
- The day-to-day team management of a team of Device and Product Specialists. Including
- Management of resources allocated to support BAU activities and program/project support and forecasting future demand.
- Management of the Devices Team Budget and forecasting future requirements.
- Responsible for the provision and maintenance of SMETS Devices in the testing environments.
- Responsible for the identification, provision, and maintenance of testing tools e.g. GBCS for Industry, device emulators, in the DCC testing environments and wider utility industry.
- Responsible for the creation, provision, and facilitation of interoperability test events with industry participants to ensure device manufactures have an effective platform for testing products in Smart Metering roll out.
- Be responsible for the technical relationship with device vendors from a technical account management perspective, conveying an accurate and consistent message regarding DCC project activities.
- Accountable for the collation and management of all Technical Test data related to the test devices and ensure visibility to all key stakeholders across DCC and its internal/external stakeholders.
- Responsible and accountable for collating Request for Information data from Energy Suppliers to define the Device Meter Combinations to be Enrolled and Adopted into DCC Ecosystem.
- Accountable for defining, communicating, and agreeing specific device behaviours, alerts, configurations, and firmware upgrade processes with internal and external stakeholders.
- Management of the varied technology services and products within the Devices Team such as Parse & Correlate, ICHIS Working Group, GFI, CPL, EPCL and others.

What are we looking for?
- At least 5 years’ experience and knowledge of the design/development or installation, configuration, and management of Smart Metering equipment.
- Knowledge of communications protocols used with Smart Metering Equipment.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to take complex data, interpret it and present clearly and accurately to all levels of stakeholder.
- Ability to organise and lead working groups with diverse range of stakeholders.
- A track record of managing people and enabling staff development.
- Demonstrable experience/knowledge of solving complex problems.

Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience of meter development highly desirable (SMETS1 and SMETS2) including triaging of testing issues.
- An understanding of the Head End Systems (HES) used by Smart Meter System Operators of SMETS1 and/or SMETS2 Energy Suppliers.
- Strong knowledge in the Smart DCC ecosystem, its service providers, and systems.
