CK Group are currently recruiting for a talented and experienced Lead Scientist, with a track record of delivery of drug discovery projects, to join a growing biotechnology organisation. This is a non lab-based role and is offered on a permanent basiswith some flexibility of hybrid working. Our client is based in Macclesfield.
**The Company**:
Supports UK SMEs to drive the development and of new approaches for the discovery of new medicines.
**The Role**:
Responsible for evaluating and delivering projects arising from external partners in biotech and academia. Engaging collaboratively and using your extensive drug discovery expertise to help evaluate their plans, provide constructive feedback, and help transformthese into successful drug discovery projects. This is a high-profile opportunity for a collaborative and creative experienced drug discovery scientist to advance a wide range of UK drug discovery projects/ programmes.
**Responsibilities will include**:

- Identify, drive and provide leadership on existing or new strategic initiatives
- Work with the management team to guide and mentor them in the delivery of their projects.
- Provide data assessment and project development through the key drug discovery challenges such as safety, PK/PD, proof of concept, and efficacy
- Travel within the UK to attend meetings with partners

**Your Background**:

- PhD in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., biology, pharmacology, cell / molecular biology, chemistry), alongside substantial experience of drug-discovery, gained in the biopharmaceutical industry.
- Demonstrated expertise in drug discovery capabilities such as lead generation, DMPK or safety pharmacology - DESIRABLE
- A deep understanding of drug development, including how preclinical and clinical research interface.
- Track record of successful delivery of drug discovery projects
- CRO management
- Experience of developing and presenting drug discovery strategies for investment
