East London, United Kingdom St Giles Trust Full time

**Job Summary**:
Are you a dynamic, organised and engaging individual, with a proven record of providing support, advice and advocacy and communicating the needs of employees within an organisation? Looking to play an integral role in a vital and rewarding project?

If so, join St Giles Trust as our **Black Lives Awareness Group (BLAG) Project Coordinator**, where you will support the development, effective implementation, and embedding of BLAG at St Giles, while also having day-to-day responsibility for the effective running of BLAG with the aim to build an inclusive and equitable working culture.

**About** **St Giles Trust and BLAG**

An ambitious, well-established charity that helps people facing adversity to find jobs, homes and the right support they need. Central to our ethos is our belief that people with first-hand experience of successfully overcoming issues such as an offending background, homelessness, addictions and gang involvement, hold the key to positive change in others. St Giles is now a kickstart employer, so we are part of the scheme which provides job opportunities for 16-24 year-olds who are currently on Universal Credit and are at risk of long-term unemployment.

The Black Lives Awareness Group (BLAG) is an employee-led movement at St Giles which has been set up in the wake of the tragic killing of George Floyd, a stark reminder of the massive inequalities people face daily in society and the work that still must be done to tackle racial injustice. The group offers advice, support, and development opportunities to black staff members and supports organisational training and awareness-raising.

**About this key role**

Working in partnership with the Senior Management Team, HR, EDI, the Skills Centre, Front Line Managers, Expert Panel, and other staff network groups, you will establish the purpose and goals of the group and work with the leadership sponsor to ensure these are aligned to organisational EDI objectives. We will count on you to lead on a promotion and recruitment to the group, on developing and delivering a calendar of activities and a workplan for the group, and having input into leadership initiatives that affect your group.

You will organise and minute group meetings and ensure minutes are shared with the steering group, coordinate the group’s workflow and initiatives and produce quarterly reports on group activities, while project managing group activities and helping to manage BLAG’s wider network issues and complaints are also key duties.

**What we are looking for**
- Experience of building and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues
- Experience of project planning, keeping tasks and people on track with deadlines
- Relevant qualification or training relating to EDI alongside a good awareness issues facing the black community, particularly in the workplace and in accessing services
- Level 3 qualification in education or other relevant training qualification
- A commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion with a keen interest in issues facing black communities
- Excellent interpersonal, prioritisation and communication skills, both verbal and written

In return, you can expect a competitive salary, generous leave allowance, staff pension, flexible working, a mentoring programme, an advice and counselling service, childcare vouchers, season ticket loan and much more.

**To apply, please visit our website via the ‘Apply’ button.**

**Closing date: 11pm, 12th February 2023. Interview date: 20th February **2023**.

St Giles will guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria set out in the Job Description for the vacancy.

As an organisation that works with children and adults at risk we are committed to safeguarding, protecting and promoting the safety of our clients and successful applicants will be DBS checked with a Basic DBS.
