Medical Secretary

We are looking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated secretary to join the Microbiology team. The post holder will manage the administration of consultants and designated medical staff and provide an efficient and effective secretarial service. In addition, there is a small administration team to supervise.
This is a secretarial role with mínimal patient contact. The workload consists of approximately 70-80% managing and minuting strategic meetings.
The role of the Microbiology secretary is to arrange and minute strategic meetings and manage consultant diaries. You will liaise closely with Infection Prevention Control (IPC), Public Health and Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) teams whilst working alongside clinicians.
The role is office based at Arrowe Park Hospital. The working pattern is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9.00am - 5.00pm. This is a permanent position.
This interesting and varied role requires the ability to work well on your own initiative whilst being committed to teamwork as you will need to work with others to meet the patient’s needs. This position also requires good communication skills, the ability to meet the demands of working in a busy environment and ability to represent the department with due professionalism.
You will have the ability to work under pressure, prioritise your workload and to deal with confidential and sensitive issues in a professional manner.
You will be responsible for implementing and managing systems for the office/team workload, ensuring work is completed within strict timescales.
**The minimum requirements for this post are**:
- Minimum of 4 years admin/secretarial experience
Diary management
Minute/note taking
Intense admin background
Confident managing a senior’s workload
Organisational skills
Excellent time management
**Desirable**:
Previous NHS experience
Supervisory experience
Audio-Typing experience
AMSPAR Medical Secretarial Diploma or equivalent experience
RSA 111 Word Processing (or equivalent)
Good IT Skills/ ECDL would be desirable
