**Description**:
**Overview of the role**:
Working hours are 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

As an internal quality auditor, you will play a vital role in ensuring that UK Biobank processes, systems, and products meet or exceed established quality standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, assess compliance with internal policies and procedures, identify areas for improvement, and drive continuous quality enhancement throughout the organisation.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Document audit findings, prepare detailed reports, and communicate results to management, highlighting areas of non-compliance and recommending corrective actions.
- Follow up on audit findings to ensure that corrective actions have been implemented and verify their effectiveness.
- Provide guidance and support to departments in implementing quality improvement initiatives and ensuring adherence to established quality standards.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
- Collaborate with external auditors during external certification audits, regulatory inspections, or customer audits.

For 15 years (and counting), half a million 40 - 69-year-old volunteers have had their health tracked by UK Biobank. Researchers from around the world can then use the information which include genetic sequencing, heart, brain and bone scans, hospital and GP records, blood samples, questionnaires and activity data. Around 25,000 researchers use UK Biobank and more than 7,000 peer-reviewed papers have been published as a result.

**About you**:
**Essential**
- Proven experience as an internal auditor or quality assurance professional.
- Audit trained and experience in auditing against Quality and Information Security standards (eg 9001 / 27001), or equivalent.
- Solid understanding of quality management principles, standards, and methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organisation.
- Good technical skills (IT literacy, familiar with and able to use MS office suite for data analysis and communication), and good attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently but also as part of a team.

**Desirable**
- Educated to degree level ideally in a Scientific/ Clinical Discipline.
- Previous experience of working with or in line with other UKAS accreditations.

UK Biobank is a large-scale biomedical database and research resource containing genetic, lifestyle and health information from half a million UK participants.

UK Biobank’s database, which includes blood samples, heart and brain scans and genetic data of the 500,000 volunteer participants, is globally accessible to approved researchers who are undertaking health-related research that’s in the public interest.

UK Biobank recruited 500,000 people aged between 40-69 years in 2006-2010 from across the UK. With their consent, they provided detailed information about their lifestyle, physical measures and had blood, urine and saliva samples collected and stored for future analysis.
