Job title: Junior Buyer - Packaging and Intercompany Goods

Reporting to: Global Procurement Manager

Location: Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk (Hybrid working opportunities available)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

**The Opportunity**

The Junior Buyer will drive the implementation of the strategy for packaging procurement. Continuity of supply, increased contribution and aligned communications across the entire supply chain are key objectives of this role. The post holder will also provide support to other global buyers in key areas such as sustainability, running weekly material requirements reports, ensuring timely and accurate shipment details, among others. In addition, this role will ensure the successful movement of products between the UK and US manufacturing locations, using a procurement lens to manage demand (customer order and internal demand), shipments and inventory levels. The intercompany shipments will require collaboration with cross-functional colleagues at both sites. Being a champion of teamwork within the Global Procurement team as well as across other departments is critical for success in this role.

**What you’ll be doing**

The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

- Ensure available supplies of packaging and all intercompany goods by raising purchase orders and internal work orders
- Work with suppliers and cross-functional colleagues to ensure timely delivery of goods, troubleshooting as needed
- Investigate and implement ways of reducing cost by way of alternative supplier sourcing, increasing payment terms, and /or negotiating better prices
- Maintain awareness of packaging and freight market conditions, packaging supply issues, identify and mitigate supply and quality risk, and communicate relevant information to key internal and external stakeholders
- Manage appropriate inventory levels at both UK and US sites to meet customer and internal demand
- Run contract reports and MRP for use within the UK buying team
- Work closely with the Quality team and packaging suppliers to ensure accurate specifications and to identify potential future needs and ensure regulatory compliance
- Review inventory reports and cascade data to stakeholders
- Maintain and update key procurement tools and resources (spreadsheets, reports, dashboards)
- Assist global procurement team with ongoing sustainability initiatives and reporting
- Perform such other tasks as are consistent with the general role description and job title

**Essential criteria**:

- GCSE grades A-C, a vocational qualification, or Diploma in Supply Chain
- Good organizational and critical thinking skills with ability to extract and analyse data from systems and tools
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Collaborative team-player, able to build relationships regionally and globally
- Motivated self-starter who possesses drive, energy, and is curious to understand how and why
- A can-do attitude with a proactive hands-on approach to all tasks
- Knowledge and experience of MRP and ERP systems (such as JDE)
- The ability to communicate complex issues effectively and efficiently, both verbally and in writing across all levels within the business
