This is an exciting time to join us as we introduce our new Medical and Respiratory High Care Unit. The trust has secured significant investment to introduce this new unit which will enhance the care we provide to our patients. These roles are a key part of this development.

The posts are open to both nursing and Allied Health Professionals who have successfully completed their MSc.

The post holder will be a key member of the multi-disciplinary team to provide clinical quality care to all patients on the Medical and Respiratory High Care Units at Victoria Hospital. You will also rotate onto our respiratory wards as part of the role.

The role will also include development of the team and expanding the clinical role. You will be expected to provide expertise and decision-making skills to inform clinical reasoning when dealing with individual patient presentations.

You will be a team player and work collaboratively with staff from all wards consisting of respiratory patients and patients who require a enhanced level of care which includes NIV and CPAP.

Develop and maintain communication with others relating to complex issues.

Be proactive, demonstrating increased autonomy, clinical judgement and decision-making skills.

Act as an expert practitioner demonstrating advanced skills and knowledge in medical conditions, rehabilitation and complex patient needs.

Demonstrate expert knowledge in physiological and psychological functioning when there are diseases and disorders and producing an effective plan of care.

You will be responsible for all day to day management of patients liaising with medical colleagues any concerns when completing board rounds.

You will be expected to assess, plan and evaluate a range of interventions which may include prescribing medications requesting investigations and providing lifestyle changes.

The medical and respiratory high care will moved to a purpose built unit within the next 12 months. We are part of the Integrated Medicine and Patient Flow Division and very much part of a great team.
