It's an exciting time at Samaritans as we look to grow and develop our very own Samaritans Training School (STS). As a result, we are looking for two Samaritans trained listening volunteers to join us as Trainers. You'll play an essential role in the success of our Training School and help us to ensure we have expert volunteer listeners prepared, willing and able to be there for people when they need us most.
This is a brilliant opportunity to work with Samaritans at a critical time. As the country recovers from the pandemic, we must ensure we have the right measures in place to support mental health and prevent suicide. Our vision is that fewer people die by suicide and with your help we can make change that saves lives.

Samaritans has launched a new 5 year strategy with five new priority areas: access, reach, impact, capacity, and sustainability. A brand new Samaritans Training School (STS) has been created to build a One Samaritans culture by supporting hubs and branches where they need support through all stages of the volunteer development journey. STS will enable Samaritans to recruit and train more volunteers to expand our service and grow the number of listening volunteers into our organisation, helping us to be there for more callers.
Samaritans strategy focuses on the aim of becoming one team of valued, diverse and skilled people. STS is a centralised volunteer recruitment & training school that compliments the branch-led programme, to meet the demand for our service. STS enables Samaritans to expand our service quickly, alongside service expansion plans, and support branches to reduce their volunteer waiting lists. STS will offer interviews, deliver Core Development training and work alongside Hub and Branch Directors to ensure a positive onboarding experience for new listening volunteers. The programme also aims to increase diverse representation in our people.

**Required Skills and Experience**
You'll be engaging, warm and personable, with confidence in delivering training and learning opportunities to a wide variety of audiences including volunteers, staff and external stakeholders. With a good grasp of technology you'll deliver training comfortably across various means and utilise feedback to recommend improvements to our services.
Youll be well organised and a confident communicator, with compassion and understanding for the work we do here. Customer care will be of utmost importance as you build relationships with the volunteer team, stakeholders and potential volunteers.
Youll play a critical role in our mission to continue to ensure we have adequate and well prepared volunteers to be there for all those who need us.
