An exciting opportunity for a passionate **Chef de Partie** to join a dedicated catering team at to work in the heart of Oxford City Centre in a College which opened in Oxford in 1886. The Chef de Partie is responsible under the supervisionof the Head Chef, for providing excellent quality catering provision for academics, staff, students and visitors throughout the term and vacation periods.

You will have the opportunity to experience a team environment which prides itself on quality and looks to continually improve on its food offering with a small and friendly College. This is a great opportunity to develop a culinary career, learning newskills in a crucial role within a committed team.

**Responsibilities**
- Prepare, present, and cook high quality, fresh dishes within College guidelines including for events such as conferences and weddings.
- Prepare and cooks a variety of dishes in a timely manner, developing new recipes as well as in accordance with College recipes.
- Keep all working areas clean and tidy and ensure no cross contamination.
- Prepare mise-en-place for all relevant menus.
- Work on own initiative without supervision and on occasion taking charge of a shift in the absence of members of the kitchen management team.
- Works well with colleagues and as part of a committed and dedicated team.
- Comply with College Security and Fire Regulations.
- Comply with Health and Safety, COSHH and all Food Safety legislation.
- Report maintenance, hygiene, and hazard issues to the Senior Chef in a timely fashion.
- Assist with accepting deliveries and ensure the standards of goods received.
- Support the Head Chef with all operational aspects of the culinary function.
- Carry out any other reasonable requests from the Kitchen Manager.

**Experience / Skills Required**
- Appropriate qualification to NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
- High standard of culinary skills in all areas of the kitchen with demonstrable experience.
- Demonstrable knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation.
- Proven ability to prepare and cook food to the highest standard.
- Good communication skills and excellent time management.
- Ability to work under pressure within a busy kitchen environment.
- Good awareness of seasonal food and working to high standards with fresh ingredients.
- Ability to work independently without supervision and as part of a team.
- Good management and organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- A flexible approach to hours and duties.
- Knowledge of assisting staff to meet departmental targets.
- Good sense of portion control and reduction of food wastage.
- Previous experience of working in an educational establishment.
- Previous experience of working in a college environment where fine dining is offered.
