**Job Summary**

As a Purchasing Apprentice, you will be responsible for supporting the purchasing team in various tasks related to the acquisition of goods and services necessary for the organisation. This role offers hands-on experience in the purchasing process, Supplier management, and negotiation, providing a foundation for a successful career in purchasing.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Supplier Communication**
- Communicate with suppliers to obtain quotes, negotiate prices, and discuss terms and conditions.
- Assist in maintaining positive relationships with existing suppliers and identify potential new suppliers

**Purchase Order Processing**
- Support the creation and processing of purchase orders in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Ensure accuracy in order details, including quantities, specifications, and delivery timelines.

**Market Research**
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers, compare product/service offerings, and analyse market trends.
- Assist in evaluating supplier performance and recommending improvements.

**Documentation and Filing**
- Maintain organised and up-to-date records of purchase orders, contracts, and correspondence.
- Assist in preparing reports on purchasing activities and expenditures.

**Compliance**
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards in all purchasing activities.
- Support the implementation of sustainable and socially responsible procurement practices.

**Learning and Development**
- Participate in training programs to enhance knowledge of purchasing processes, negotiation skills, and industry best practices.
- Stay informed about changes in the market and industry trends

**Qualifications/Skills**:

- Education to A Level standard or equivalent; GCSE’s in English and Maths
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organisational abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and take direction from senior purchasing professionals.
- College coursework in business, supply chain, or a related field is desirable.
- Basic understanding of purchasing processes and principles is desirable.
