Here at Seashell, we provide care and education for children and young people (up to 25 years old) with severe, profound, and complex learning difficulties and disabilities, sensory impairment and communication disorders and autism.
We are recruiting a Family Liaison Partner to work closely with our Family Support & Participation Manager to provide person centred support to families whilst so empowering them to address various challenges through their Seashell Journey. The Family Liaison Partner role and is an ideal opportunity for anyone hoping to make a positive impact on the lives of children & young adults with disabilities and their families.
**Key responsibilities**:
- To manage, support, monitor and evaluate a large caseload of families through their journey from the first contact to post transitions.
- to plan & deliver family events throughout the year and support the delivery of parent carer workshops through webinar or face to face events.
- To provide on-going support for families with a range of social and personal issues or specialise in a particular area such as poverty, on-line safety domestic abuse, bereavement, parental mental health, family relationships, homelessness and children/young adults living away from home.
- To deliver a ‘Supporting Families’ training programmes as part of our induction training.
- To empower and support families to have realistic expectations and outcomes in the short/medium term.
- To support families to understand and navigate the SEND legislation including mediation and tribunals.
- To understand the issues affecting children, young people with special educational needs and disabilities and their families
- To implement a range of approaches to support co-production of families of children and young people with SEND and particularly those with complex communication difficulties, low incidence & high needs.
**About you**
- GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), or equivalent qualifications, in English and maths.
- SEND Law IPSEA Levels 1,2 & 3 qualifications or commitment to complete.
- Signalong qualification or commitment to complete.
- ‘Train the Trainer’ course or equivalent is desirable but not essential.
- Experience of delivering training to staff groups and parents and carers.
- Experience of partnership working and building excellent relationships with families and wide range of professionals.
- Experience of delivering family support and providing information, advice and emotional support to families and carers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to commit to a flexible working pattern - as part of this role you may be required to work early mornings / evenings to accommodate our family’s needs and commitments.
- You will have a good understanding of the complexities of children and young people with disabilities being professional, empathic, and understanding.
- Motivated to deliver positive change for all families.
