Technical Manager
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join The University of Southampton and be involved in cutting-edge research and technology. This dynamic environment offers a chance to work with experienced, enthusiastic scientists and engineers in the field of siliconphotonics, in a culture that provides ongoing training and personal development.
**Benefits**:

The salary offered is circa £50,300 pa and the role is initially offered as a two-year contract.
The role:
- You will be collaboratively working and overseeing the fabrication of silicon photonics platforms. This will include responsibility for initially one technician and providing mentorship to the wider team. You will be optimising the fabrication process andthe delivery of wafer batches to a range of users in the R&D sectors.
- You will be helping to initiate and develop ideas and novel techniques to support research and enterprise activity.
- Analysis of technical issues and providing cost-effective solutions.
- Determining technical priorities and allocating resources.
- Management of the cleanroom fabrication environment and ensuring safe working practices.
Technical Requirements:
- You will have experience working in a laboratory environment
- Experience supervising or leading a small team and achieving a common target.
- Good knowledge of silicon photonics technologies including fabrication of devices and circuits.
- Desirable - Experience in semiconductor processing

- The ability to manage a range of priorities effectively
- Self-motivated, a competent problem solver and work within a small multi-disciplinary team
- A flexible approach to working patterns as the fabrication facility is open from 8 am - 6 pm.
