This is an exciting opportunity to join a lived experience team as People Participation Lead in Suffolk. This post focuses on the need to bring strong leadership around the participation of people who use Trust services and their carers to promote improved outcomes and experience through new insights and perspectives.

The post holder will work strategically across Suffolk in the Care Group Leadership Team to inform the development and implementation of strategies supporting the participation agenda. Will actively contribute, in leadership team decision making and will ensure that the voice of the service user and carer is central in delivery of services. Contributing to organisational strategy development and project management a variety of projects.

Provide leadership, advice, and practical project work across the Care Group in the development of a culture that is socially inclusive and values participation and diversity. Will also be a role model to other staff for valuing hidden talents from personal lived experience of mental health.

This post is advertised full-time, however flexible working would be considered.
- Duties of the role include providing a lived experience perspective in the 4-way model of service leadership for the Suffolk Care Group.
- Supporting multidisciplinary teams working in partnership with service users and their families
- Develop a pool of service users/carers in the Suffolk area, working in partnership with others, for effective participation and coproduction, in meetings, interviews etc.
- Working with service users and staff to ensure a high quality, consistent service
- To lead the development, support or facilitation of service user and carer forums in a locality area
- Work alongside families and carer support groups to increase carers participation
- Work with user led groups to complement and enhance local initiatives
- Be an Equality and Diversity Champion in the Trust and externally, ensuring minority groups have opportunities for involvement
- Support joint working between the Trust, the voluntary sector and user/carer groups
- Attend decision making forums, to raise standards of therapeutic engagement and collaborative care planning
- Training frontline staff in best practice around meaningful user involvement in person centred care and participation
- Challenge poor practices and offer viable innovative alternatives
- Promote Foundation Trust membership opportunities to service users and carers
- To maintain and uphold the values and behaviours of the trust and to challenge constructively inappropriate behaviour
