Cheltenham, United Kingdom Compass Disability Services Full time

**The Role**: Would you like to work a 3-day week? Are you adventurous with a love for the great outdoors?
Here is a great opportunity to relocate to Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

Sometimes life throws you a curveball and it changes everything. In my case it was a road traffic accident 7 years ago that left me paralysed from the chest down and reliant on 24-hour care. Despite this life-changing event, I remain extremely positive and laid back during my middle-aged years and enjoy an active work and family lifestyle.

I am totally committed to reaching my full physical potential and am working hard at propelling a manual wheelchair, and training to ride my hand-cycle.

Living with my wife and hybrid working fulltime has allowed me to adapt smoothly, whilst enjoying countryside walks, handcycling and regular weekends away. I have my own wheelchair adapted vehicle and like to get away reasonably often so a full driving license and willingness to travel is essential. I like to spend weekends regularly visiting my family in Porthcawl, South Wales and like to holiday with my wife both in the UK and abroad.

**Main Duties**:

- Personal care
- Showering
- Medication
- Hoisting
- Continence care
- Accompanying to work one day a week, administrative support
- Accompanying on weekend outings - bike rides, countryside walks, weekends away
- Assisting with housework, technology etc.

Essential Job Requirements:
Love of the great outdoors, cycling, countryside walks
Moving & Handling Certification
Medication Administration Certification
GCSE English Language, or equivalent TEFL or similar
Full Driving license and own transport
DBS

Desirable Job Requirements:
Spinal Cord Injury Experience
Continence Management
GCSE Mathematics or equivalent
GCSE ICT or equivalent

You must be able to prove the right to work in the UK. No sponsorships are available.

FOR SE: Please note that the person undertaking this role may be requested to supply evidence of DBS clearance and/or references where appropriate.

**Hours**:
Monday: 7:30 - 22:30
Sat & Sun: 8:30 - 22:30

Total 43 -59 hours per week, worked full days Sat - Mon, plus some evening work. Hours can be negotiated to cover two or three weekends out of four. Whilst this is regarded as a live out package, a self-catering apartment can be provided 5 miles away at a discounted rate of £500 per month, so own transport is essential.

**Pay**: Employed - £15.76 per hour and Self - Employed £19.23 per hour

**Job Type**: Part time/Full time

Please note, Compass Disability Services (Compass Independent Living Team) is a support, advisory and payroll service. We support people with a disability or long-term health condition to live independently and retain control of their lives within the community. We are not the person that you will work for. You will work for the individual or family that we are supporting.
