The YMCA Robin Hood group provides temporary supported accommodation for young people, refugees, unaccompanied asylum seekers and children leaving care across Mansfield.

We are recruiting for a Trauma Informed Therapeutic Practitioner to provide Trauma Informed psychological support and interventions to young people across our Mansfield and Ashfield 16+ services. Key to this, is to deliver a responsive service based around client need, providing Trauma Informed Support to vulnerable people accessing the YMCA. This is being recruited on the basis of a 12 month fixed term contract.

You will passionately share in our belief that everyone should have a fair chance to discover who they are and what they can become.

This is a brand new role to our service and one we are incredibly excited to be able to provide additional support and care to the young people we work with.

You will lead on the development of a service-wide trauma informed psychological response, including;
- delivering a programme of interventions and groupwork to support emotional regulation, learning from mistakes, distress tolerance and green mental health.
- Working collaboratively with the Trauma Informed Engagement Worker to develop a plan of activities to support the interventions
- Working collaboratively with frontline staff to undertake initial assessments where a need has been identified for intervention
- Support and guide front line support staff on a variety of interventions and support strategies to maximise impact in a trauma informed way

Collaboration with be a huge part of this role as you build relationships in this role with YMCA front line staff, external agencies and professionals who are also involved with the young people. We hope that you will be able to coordinate and enhance the collaboration between all these services for the benefit of our young people by taking a overarching, holistic approach to support.

You will also support our front-line workers who are managing a caseload of young people with multiple and complex needs. This support will include a monthly training/development session, as well as support to the Housing Development Manager to deliver effective debrief sessions following incidents.

**About You**

You will have experience of delivering trauma informed therapeutic interventions to support mental health and growth, preferably to young people. You will understand the effects of various types of trauma and its impact on human development and the development of psychological and substance abuse issues. You will be passionate about supporting change in the lives of young people, and in seeking the most successful outcomes possible.

You will need the ability to work flexibly and travel if required across multiple sites in the East Midlands.

You will be enthusiastic, friendly, approachable and align with our core values of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring. You will need excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt your communication styles to suit a variety of audiences.

You will need to build solid and trusted relationships with colleagues and young people and understand the importance of professional boundaries and role modelling.

Within this role, you will be supported by our appointed consultant Forensic Psychologist who supports all of the children and young people in our care who may have experience trauma. In working with her and her team, you will also get support, development and the opportunity to expand your knowledge, experience and techniques. There is huge scope within this role for it to expand and develop as we absolutely believe in the benefits of trauma informed therapeutic practice.
