**Duties and Responsibilities: Head of Counselling**
- To hold clinical responsibility for all clinical work within the Foundation whether performed by counsellors or clinical trainees. Clinical responsibility for IAPT work rests with the NHS, our partner organisation, unless expressly stated otherwise.
- To recruit a group of intake assessors of sufficient size and experience to meet the in-house needs of the Foundation.
- To manage and monitor the in-house intake process and to hold responsibility for a client until they are allocated or referred elsewhere. This includes supervision of the intake assessors and making the final decision in allocating or referring each client.
- To collaborate with the Head of Training and Training Supervisors to ensure as far as possible the allocation of a sufficient number of suitable clients to Trainees within the Foundation's training programme - always having regard to the general availability of clients and to proper clinical considerations [ie the well-being of the clients].
- To liaise with the management team, supervisors, psychiatric consultant and trustees where appropriate, if ethical dilemmas are identified.
- To manage and monitor the work of the counsellors and to maintain and develop the standards to which the Foundation operates.
- To organise in collaboration with the Head of Training a CPD training programme, providing appropriate opportunities for continuing professional development for CCF counsellors, clinical trainees and external participants.
- To provide an appropriate level of pastoral support for the

Foundation's counsellors.
- To be responsible for the preparation and management of the counselling budget, year by year, in collaboration with the Head of Centre and treasurer.
- To liaise with the Head of Centre regarding the development and use of the databases and other administrative tools.
- To recruit, manage and monitor the performance of a group of suitably trained supervisors with regard to the general in-house casework of the Foundation and to liaise with the Head of Training to provide oversight of training supervision.
- To work with referrers to promote a better understanding of the work of the Foundation, and to encourage appropriate referrals.
- To review and develop all Foundation policies and procedures related to counselling.
- To participate in the general management of the Foundation as a member of the Board and of the Management Team.
- To ensure all counsellors within the Foundation work to the BACP

Guidelines on Ethics and Good Practice.

**Personal Specification: Head of Counselling**

**Qualities and Attributes**:
**Essential**
- Training in the psychodynamic model and a high level of clinical skills, developed through broad practical experience in a variety of settings
- Accreditation with BACP/UKCP or equivalent
- Empathy with the charitable work of the organisation and support for its ethos
- Management experience.
- Good management skills and ability to work in a team.
- The ability and desire to work collaboratively, both within the Management

Team and with the counsellors.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage budgets effectively.
- Awareness of the changing social and legal environment in which counselling takes place.
- Supervision experience
- Experience of using Microsoft Office 365 and Sharepoint

- Supervision Qualification
- Experience of working in a similar counselling agency.
- Understanding of the budget making process

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 15 per week

**Salary**: £25.20 per hour
