**Background**

This one-year post provides a unique opportunity to deliver research in the area of health economics to quantify the primary health care resource use and costs associated with musculoskeletal pain in children and adolescents.

CAM-PAIN is a 4-year project funded by the National Institute for Applied Research (NIHR) Programme Grants for Applied Health Research funding stream and is led by the Centre for Musculoskeletal Research, Keele University. The health economics component is led by the Health Economics Unit at the University of Birmingham. This work builds on a long-standing collaboration between the two universities.

**Role Summary**

This one-year role (100% FTE) will be responsible for assisting the lead health economist with designing, analysing and disseminating the health economics component of the CAM-PAIN project. The post-holder will be responsible for:

- Conducting a targeted literature review to put the work into context with existing literature
- Conducting multivariable regression analysis using generalised linear modelling to explore covariates associated with higher costs.
- Contributing to dissemination of the CAM-PAIN project including writing papers, documents, reports and others, and working directly with the CAM-PAIN team in Keele.

**Main Duties**
- Carry out a targeted literature review
- Become familiar with using the CPRD database
- Analyse research data as directed
- Present research outputs, including drafting academic publications or parts thereof, for example at seminars and as posters
- Develop or adapt techniques, models and methods
- Provide guidance as required to support staff and any students who may be assisting with research
- Deal with problems that may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines
- Carry out administrative tasks related directly to the delivery of the research

**Person Specification**
- Evidence of good quantitative skills for health economic analysis
- Practical experience of statistical analysis of data including regression analysis
- Experience of dealing with a large datasets
- Familiarity with STATA
- Good writing skills
- Good knowledge of health economics and research methods and techniques
- Ability to work to fixed deadlines
- Ability to work as a member of a team
- Ability to communicate complex information effectively
- Good communication skills and confidence to deal with a variety of senior researchers and external project partners at project meetings and dissemination events Ability to access and organise resources successfully
