**OVERVIEW**:
The Companies Analytics Consultants are at the heart of our business; producing impactful analytics that transform the way an organisation uses their data to make decisions. Their public sector team work with a huge variety of datasets (from internal structureddatabases to external files and spreadsheets) covering themes such as social care, public health, finance, education, housing and economic development, with the aim of turning information into usable insight and moving the sector away from a dependence onout-dated reporting tools and static spreadsheets. Using the latest technology and a proven methodology, their analytics team is in more demand than ever before.

**A day in the life of an Analytics Consultant**

Is rarely the same as the day before. Although much of your time will be spent developing complex analytics in Power BI, to do this you must also be a creative thinker and keen problem solver You will be supported by a lead consultant and the wider projectteam, but you have direct responsibility to ensure that your analytics provide the end-users with usable insights that meet their requirements This can involve reverse engineering existing reports to uncover business logic and table relationships and workingwith end users to clarify understanding and challenge existing approaches. It also involves thinking creatively about how to present your reports to convey patterns in the data that may previously have been hidden. Alongside creating user-friendly reportsthat allow users to access the information they need, at a glance. As a consultant working on behalf of other organisations, this includes a minimum level of professional standards on your part; active listening, supporting people to use new tools and drawinferences, great presentation skills, and an organised approach to delivery.

**Skills/Experience Required**

At least 2 years' experience of using Power BI- not just for visualisation but including:

- transforming data using Power Query and M
- creating data models including multiple tables from relational sources
- producing effective data visualisation across reports and dashboard
- confidence in analysing data using DAX
- publishing, scheduling dataset refresh and distribution of Apps in the Power BI Service
- also needs an appreciation of the Microsoft Azure infrastructure for data and analytics.
- experience of querying/extracting data from relational databases using tools such as SQL or Business Objects.
- knowledge of UK data protection law and how data should be handled to comply with information governance principles.

**Key Accountabilities**
- analyse data for patterns and trends and design visualisations to highlight your findings.
- use basic statistical principles for data analysis such as correlations, statistical significance, and temporal analysis.
- work with users to understand requirements, current reporting and challenges, and translate these into new analytics solutions.
- produce documentation and support users during technical handovers
- work as part of a project team, providing status updates and delivering to project timescales.
