SEN teacher needed in a Somerset secondary school. No experience is needed training / support is provided.
Your new school
A school in the Somerset school are looking for a SEN teacher to join their team as soon as possible. This is an SEN specialist secondary school and therefore if successful you will only be teaching to children with special needs. You do not need any experienceand the school are happy to provide support and training.
Your new role
If successful you will be responsible for SEN classes of no more than 7 children. Although, you will often be supporting smaller groups of 3 and 1:1. The school are looking for teachers who have a good understanding of emotion, have a calm attitude and be caringtowards the students. It has been made clear that the wellbeing of the students is very important. The school are also happy to provide support and training and have stated that having a large amount of SEN experience is not necessary. When teaching in groupsof 3 or more you will always be supported by a teaching assistant. The school also have a good track record with behaviour and have a caring an warm atmosphere both inside and outside the classroom.
The school have also asked that if successful some trial days and time to meet the class are a must and therefore flexibility to be able to do this is important before full time teaching begins.
What you'll need to succeed
- You should have experience within a classroom setting in the last 5 years.
- Experience in teaching key stage 3 and 4 is preferred but not necessary.
- Experience with SEN children.
- A comprehensive understanding of the English national curriculum.
- You will need strong communication skills.
