Research Associate in High Energy Physics X 2

The experimental High Energy Physics research group of the Cavendish Laboratory, has major involvements in the ATLAS and LHCb experiments at CERN, in the MicroBooNE and DUNE experiments at Fermilab, and in the AION Project and MAGIS experiments.
Necessary requirements - PhD in (Astro-)Particle Physics (awarded or close to submission) - Strong research record in experimental (astro-) particle physics - Familiarity with HEP scientific computing, i.e., Linux, Condor, etc. - Programming fluency in C++ and python - Ability to work in an international team of scientists - Ability to travel to CERN for detector-related work
Desirable requirements - Familiarity with MC simulation programmes - Familiarity with GEANT4 - Familiarity with muon detection and RPC detector technology - Familiarity with DAQ and R/O systems - Experience with data analysis - Experience with reconstruction algorithms: muons, tracking, MET
Conditions of employment The posts will be a fixed term appointment for up to 24 months in the first instance. You will be based at the Cavendish Laboratory, with the possibility to travel to CERN for detector-related work. Appointment at Research Associate is dependent on having a PhD including those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD (in which case appointment will initially be made at Research Assistant and amended to Research Associate when the PhD is awarded). The Research Associate (grade 7) salary falls within the range £35,308 to £43,155. The Research Assistant salary (grade 5) falls within the range £32,411 to £33,348.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
