We have an exciting opportunity within NHS Supply Chain for a Risk Manager to join our Governance, Assurance & Legal team. The Risk Manager leads NHS Supply Chain’s risk management activity by partnering with the business to ensure that NHS Supply Chain’s riskmanagement framework is implemented effectively and contributes to effective decision making across the organisation, in line with the NHS Supply Chain Board’s level of risk appetite.
Risk management should be an integral part of how the business is managed on a day-to-day basis and not just a theoretical exercise that is performed periodically. Therefore, the Risk Manager needs to build effective ongoing relationships with a wide rangeof stakeholders and also have strong communication and influencing skills. The Risk Manager challenges senior management and holds them to account by analysing the risk registers to identify key themes and risk exposure. They are inquisitive whilst also beingaction-oriented.
**What does a Risk Manager do at NHS Supply Chain?**:

- Provide expert input into the design of SCCL’s risk management framework
- Ensure that SCCL’s risk management framework is implemented effectively by supporting and challenging Risk Owners, Risk Leads and Risk Champions to identify, describe, assess, mitigate and monitor risks
- Lead the regular review and updating of SCCL’s principal and corporate risks
- Monitor the status of risk mitigation actions, highlighting areas where progress may be insufficient and escalating these accordingly
- Act as the system owner for the risk management system and ensure it is being used effectively to support risk management activity across the business
- Support the Head of Risk & Compliance in providing insightful and impactful risk reporting to the SCET, ARC and SCCL Board
- Coordinate the log of ‘Risk Accept’ decisions to ensure that they are well documented, have agreed parameters and remain under review
- Own the continuous development of the risk management intranet site (including the tools and templates it contains) ensuring that it brings risk management to life
- Act as the author for the Risk Management Policy and work with the Head of Risk & Compliance to regularly review the policy
