The Head of Sustainability (HOS) is a key role to support the delivery of the enhanced Sustainability and EMS requirements. The HOS with be responsible for the development of a strategic and cost effective approach to the Sustainability Plans and associated documents which is aligned wherever possible with both the MITIE and Client Strategic Objectives.

The HOS will engage with the Operations and Commercial team to ensure that the contractual delivery requirements are fully defined with milestones are established. Engage with the Client Team (and/or Integrator where present) to establish the whether all the necessary client supplied information is available and up-to-date and support in compiling any requests for information and identifying and managing associated risks.

The HOS will engage with the client/integrator to agree the format and content of each of the plans required under the Sustainability and Environmental Management contract requirements and that these plans are delivered in line with the contract programme

The HOS will oversee the Role of the energy manager within the account whilst giving clear direction and leadership.

Main Duties:

- Provide the principal support for the identification and delivery of the sustainability plans required under the contract during mobilisation, transition and steady state
- Develop and embed the EMS with associated support, training and internal audits.
- Develop the ‘wider' sustainability strategy to incorporate social aspects as well as the current environmental aspects
- Establish benefits tracking on applicable sustainability projects / tasks
- Development of case studies to use both internally and externally
- Develop and articulate a strategic approach to identifying opportunities to deliver added value to the client including additional works.
- Engagement with Contract Director, Operations Manager, QSHE Manager and Commercial Manager agreeing sustainability related contractual requirements and ensuring they are met
- Undertake the strategic lead on projects and liaison with key client stakeholders, including the identification of opportunities & budgets available for sustainability
- Input into annual improvement plans as required
- Ensure the contract operations are fully compliant with relevant environmental legislation, policies and guidance
- Developing and maintaining 12 month Sustainability plan
- Work with senior management team to develop sustainability offerings applicable to the estate and client
- Attendance at senior management team meetings to ensure sustainability is embedded operationally
- Produce monthly, quarterly and annual client reports
- Review and input into Client Sustainability Strategy reports and plans.
- Establish and manage the progress towards key client sustainability targets
- Attendance at regular client meetings
- Identify areas where the client can improve their environmental impact
- Ensure the organisation and the client are compliant with ISO 14000 family of standards.
- Develop a sustainability forward plan budget forecasts for identified and aspirational projects
- Develop training programmes and workshops on sustainability practices for employees and client

- Work within the Mitie transition, steady state and project processes.

Full compliance and ambassador for Mitie and Client's Sustainability Policies.

- Chartered Membership of appropriate professional body (IEMA preferred)
- Lead Auditor experience and associated qualification
- IT literate in MS Office and systems management software
