Maintenance Person

The Maintenance person, is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning, safety, and appearance of buildings, machinery, equipment, and various systems within our property. This role is essential in preventing downtime, minimizing disruptions, and maintaining a pleasant and efficient environment. Maintenance Technicians may work in various settings, including residential and nursing facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Repairs and Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as inspecting, cleaning, and servicing equipment and machinery.
- Conduct troubleshooting and repairs of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Replace or repair faulty components, including light fixtures, taps and wiring.
- Preventative Maintenance:
- Develop and execute maintenance schedules to prevent breakdowns and equipment failures.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and address them proactively.
- Facility Upkeep:
- Ensure the safety, and general appearance of the facility by performing minor maintenance tasks. Painting and decorating as required.
- Repair or replace damaged items, such as doors, windows, and flooring.
- Record-Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including work orders and inventory.
- Safety Compliance:
- Comply with safety regulations and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
- Inspect and maintain safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers and emergency lighting.
- Equipment Operation:
- Operate various tools and equipment, such as power tools, hand tools, and testing devices.
- Perform basic diagnostics to identify equipment malfunctions.
- Troubleshooting:
- Identify the source of problems and determine the most effective solutions to resolve them.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and plumbing issues.
- Communication:
- Report maintenance needs and concerns to home managers.
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors for larger repair projects when necessary.
**General**
1. To be aware of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and your own responsibilities under this Act.
2. To participate in training programs which may be required either by law or Company Policy.
3. To report for duty at the correct time in accordance with the duty rota. Endeavour to cover colleagues’ duties in time of sickness or holidays.
4. To report for duty in a clean and tidy uniform and following the dress code as set out in the Employee Handbook.
5. To abide by the Home’s Employee Handbook and Company Policies and Procedures.
6. To be flexible and adaptable in participating in other jobs which are necessary for the smooth running of the Home and the safety of Service Users.
7. To have an understanding of requirements detailed in the Health & Social Care Act 2008 in line with standards set by the Regulators.
8. Promote, ensure and maintain good relationships with service users, staff and outside professionals and visitors
9. Ensure that the security of the Home is maintained at all times.
10. Comply with the Company Policy in relation to infection control and prevention.
11. To work within the company’s Information Governance policies in order to maintain security of personal and sensitive data.
Maintenance person play a critical role in maintaining the functionality and aesthetics of buildings and equipment. They contribute to the overall efficiency and safety of the facilities they work in and help ensure a positive experience for residents, employees, or visitors.
