**Job Title**: Speech & Language Therapy Assistant

**Accountable To**: Speech & Language Therapist

**Job Summary**: To work independently with residents in residential care on programmes designed and supervised by the Speech and Language Therapist. To support the Speech and Language Therapist in administrative work such as making resources, programme preparation, demonstration, training and clinical programme evaluation.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. To assist the Speech and Language Therapist in the planning and implementation of therapy intervention for the residents.

2. To assist the Speech Language Therapist in resident observations and clinical communication audits.

3. To assist the Speech Language Therapist in resource creation, visuals, social stories, transition stories etc.

4. To be familiar with the use of or be willing to learn the use of the wigit symbol programme

5. To carry out therapy programmes with individual resident’s as appropriate, following assessment by the Speech Language Therapist.

6. To assist in creating and updating the About Me book

7. To assist in staff training under the guidance of the Speech Language Therapist.

8. To support and instruct staff in carrying out the SALT recommendations and communication strategy with the residents.

9. To understand the roles and responsibilities of staff when in the Fairpark 123 system

10. To model and demonstrate the Fairpark 123 roles.

11. To have an understanding of the 5 Good Communication Standards and to ensure that Fairpark Care staff teams are supported to achieve this.

12. To seek and accept support and guidance from the Speech Language Therapist and designated colleagues as and when required.

13. To attend clinical supervision in line with company policy.

14. To be aware of and work within company policies and procedures under the supervision of the Speech Language Therapist.

15. To adhere to national ( Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy) and local standard/guidelines /legislation relating to clinical and professional practice under the supervision of the Speech Language Therapist.

16. To provide support for the Speech and Language therapist through the preparation, photocopying and maintaining of therapy and training materials and managing electronic communication folders.

17. To operate computers for equipment preparation and for routine information storage and gathering.

18. To maintain the routine administrative procedures relating to caseload management

19. To maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of the work, complying with policies and procedures on safeguarding of personally identifiable information.

20. To communicate verbally and in writing on a daily basis with residents, management team, and staff teams as appropriate

21. To attend case conferences /meetings with the support from the Speech Language Therapist if requested.

22. To attend and contribute to staff meetings, Team meetings, Referral meetings, Transition meetings, Review Meetings - as required.

23. To demonstrate commitment to continuous personal development and the acquisition of up to date skills and knowledge in Speech and Language Therapy

24. To take part in Fairpark Care’s mandatory training

25. To participate in Fairpark Care's annual appraisal system.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £23,880.00-£25,000.00 per year
