As a Projects Buyer - Fabrication Subcontracts Management, you will be responsible for managing fabrication scope of Engineered Projects to meet project OTD, Quality and budgetary requirements. Scope of work covers issuing enquiries, selecting suppliers, negotiating contracts to managing schedule, expediting, inspection and delivery to Customer.

What Needs To Be Done?
- Ensuring EMENA Supply Chain strategy is implemented in co-ordination with EMENA New Build Procurement Lead.
- Ensure all purchase orders are placed with “approved suppliers” to achieve the best possible commercial terms on base cost and payment terms while ensuring the full scope of supply is delivered in accordance with the contractual requirements.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with the contractual requirements within the specified delivery date through the use of Microsoft Project Plans, monitoring supplier progress and taking appropriate corrective actions when any deviation is recorded.
- Ensure suppliers work to and deliver to the contractual specifications and acceptance standards. Use the NC Database to manage and monitor concessions, non-conformances and corrective actions in relation to specifications and quality standards
- To comply with all Health & Safety guidelines and promote a safe working environment for Howden employees, clients and suppliers.
- Measure the performance (KPI reporting) of and develop existing suppliers to deliver continuous improvement by employing best practice to achieve cost reduction and improved quality and delivery performance.
- Work as part of a combined commercial, technical & quality team to identify and assess new suppliers for capability to manufacture Howden products and take them through the onboarding process.
- Facilitate visits to suppliers by clients, client’s representatives and other Howden personnel.
- Assist Sales & Proposals in the preparation of budget costs and delivery lead times.
- Negotiating and agreeing supplier framework / cost agreements in conjunction with EMENA New Build Procurement Lead.
- Negotiation contract terms & conditions.
- Develop and write reports covering supplier visits with particular reference to commercial, quality and delivery requirements.
- Update contract status and forecast costs on the company ERP system
- Using negotiation skills, influencing techniques and effective communication to establish partnerships with new or existing suppliers and customers to ensure positive results.
- Requirement for local, national and international travel sometimes at short notice.
- Ensure quality inspections both internal & customers are co-ordinated to ensure effective use of QC resource.
- Working with Supplier Development to develop local supplier to international Howden standards.
- Supporting EMENA New Build Procurement Lead with updates on capacity at suppliers facilities and loading.
- Role is predominantly focussed on fabrications but occasional support of other product types will be required.

What Do You Need To Bring?
- Essential skills, knowledge & behaviours_
- Diploma or 3 years post apprentice experience Mechanical / Fabrication Engineering Discipline
- Experience of managing suppliers across the globe (i.e. Have cultural awareness) and the ability to build & improve relationships
- Experience with and understanding with technical drawings and specifications.
- 3 years experience in sourcing, operational buying of Fabrications, Casting, etc.
- Capable of identifying manufacturing processes and procedures.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (including MS Word, Excel, Project and Outlook)
- Negotiating skills and knowledge of contractual terms and conditions
- Desirable skills, knowledge & behaviours_
- Working knowledge of Microsoft AX ERP system or equivalent
- Familiar with ISO9001;2015 Quality Systems
- Health and Safety awareness
- Understanding of Incoterms and experience of working with freight forwarders.
