**JOB PURPOSE**:
Within the principle aims of preventing offending by children and young people, to work with young people who are at risk of offending or re-offending, with a particular focus on high risk cases

**ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Professional qualification in Social Work, Probation, Education (including Youth and Community Work) or a relevant health specialism
- Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to job role
- Significant experience of working with children, young people at risk of offending and re-offending
- Experience of working in the Criminal Justice System
- Experience of working in a multi-agency setting Experience of partnership working
- Knowledge of youth justice and safeguarding legislation and the operation of the youth justice system
- Knowledge of restorative approaches
- Knowledge of child development and an awareness of differing needs of children and young people
- Knowledge of relevant behavioural change practice to bring about change in anti-social behaviour and offending behaviour
- A good understanding of how to manage risk in the community and an understanding of and commitment to risk policies and procedures
- Understanding of the impact of crime and the responding to needs / protection of victims
- Good organisational, planning skills and working to deadlines
- Proven ability to engage with people from a variety of backgrounds, in particular those children, young people and families that are hard to reach
- Ability to travel to and access a range of buildings including family homes.

**Please note: This is a two part interview with a young persons panel on the evening of 21st February 2023 followed by a panel interview on Friday 24th February 2023**
