**Job Purpose**

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**-- Architecture - encompassing the selection of platform(s), method of delivery potentially utilising existing service components, and creation of completely new service components to deliver the new service attributes required by these services. This will involve product profiling, selection and benchmarking for those not already deployed in existing services.
- Process - working with EUC technical colleagues, and our Software Asset management team the post holder will be responsible for the creation of processes to deliver against our service SLA’s with users and other senior stakeholders.
- Definition and agreement with stakeholders of the Service Roadmap.
- Supplier Management for suppliers used to support packaging extensions on any platform.-4. Key member of the team responsible for delivery of “same day” packaging SLA in maintenance of the Universities Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation for all environments.
- Domain joined PC’s.
- InTune managed Azure joined devices.
- Mac’s supported via JAMF.
- Azure Virtual Desktop devices.
- User’s own devices, both staff and student.
To enable IS to make decisions on which to base support, advice, and business intelligence. This should be carried out in accordance with University Policies and Procedures using methods such as bespoke scripting or customising reports available from JAMF, inTune and other sources.
7. Lead & manage the Software Packaging Team, building skill and capability aligned to overall EUC, and IS strategic plans.

**Knowledge/Qualifications**

**Essential**:

A1 Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 9, 10 or 11 (Ordinary/Honours Degree, Post Graduate Qualification), or equivalent including being professionally qualified in relevant discipline, with a broad range of professional experience in management role(s) supported by a broad-based IT knowledge, with specialist knowledge of Microsoft operating systems (software installation, deployment and troubleshooting) and Mac Operating Systems. Or the ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary professional knowledge and management skills in a similar or number of different specialist roles.
A2 Proven track record of operating in a large complex environment.
A4 Knowledge of IT Information Security for confidential data, both research/commercial and personal (e.g. Data Protection Act 2018), and the implications of security-by design in the IT service lifecycle and third part app integration.

C2 Ability to analyse the risk and impact of any change and advise the management team.
C3 Understanding of disciplined change management processes.
C4 The post holder will require:
Expert knowledge of the deployment and management in the field of Mac end user devices and the associated tooling and scripting technologies.
- Expert knowledge of JAMF and it’s supporting technologies.
- Working knowledge of Virtualisation technologies.
- Working knowledge of Intune and it’s support technologies.
C5 Ability in scripting languages AppleScript, PHP. Exposure to OSA.
C6 Ability to communicate /demystify complex technical concepts to non-technical colleagues at summary level both in person (one-to-one and by presentation) and through documentation.
C7 Knowledge of HTML.
C8 A level of understanding of the complete range of technologies that permits the post holder to analyse, design, build, test and deliver the complete end to end stack required to support the totality of these mac leveraged services. Including the definition of support processes and interfaces and the control of budgets to deliver within agreed budgetary limitations.
C9 Advanced skills in a broad range of EUC service delivery components to be able to deliver the unique service attributes using minimum additional complexity.
C10 Ability to prioritise workload to deliver to tight deadlines and manage competing demands from various stakeholders often at short notice, in recognition of the mission critical nature of these services the Universities core business. An understanding of the delicate balance between service evolution and unwelcome change in the most challenging of delivery environments for staff (delivering lectures).
C11 Highly effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to challenge assumptions and practices, both internally technically and externally operationally.
