**The role**

You’ll use your extensive experience as a data architect to take on the most challenging projects involving complex and/or large-scale data. You’ll deliver transformative projects where you are the authority on data architecture, bringing the potential ofdata to life for your customers and colleagues.

**Essential experience**
- being the go-to authority on data architecture for multiple, complex systems and services and assuring work done on data architecture
- articulating design decisions that bring to life the client's technical strategy, standards and aspirations for transformation
- telling the stories around data, articulating and presenting complex information concisely to audiences and gaining agreement and buy-in
- sorting out underlying problems across the data domain, anticipating issues and taking preventative action.

**You’ll need a good understanding of**:

- best practice in data architecture and governance, including evolving and defining assurance processes to drive up quality
- how to help customers manage and govern their data properly, identifying levels of risk, impact, business and technical complexity appropriate to their data
- architecture methodologies such as TOGAF and when to use them
- the libraries and repositories around data: strategies, patterns, standards, policies, roadmaps and vision statements
- Engaging with senior stakeholders and building strong relationships
- how to produce a transformation roadmap to revolutionise a customer's business intelligence and capabilities
- metadata and the metadata repository and you can explain its role and importance.

**Other essential skills**
- ability to work with data, enterprise, solution and technical architects to align technology choices and solutions
- making sure solutions are coherent by achieving consensus from different viewpoints
- sharing your expertise and experience by coaching and mentoring colleagues
- leading and defining activities for yourself and others
- hunting down opportunities to deliver greater value to the client and their customers
- fixing complex problems by taking the initiative and responsibility.

**Other helpful experience**
- working as a consultant
- building a network of expert industry contacts
- understanding product management and agile methodologies (including Scrum and Kanban).

**Salary**

Based upon individual skill/experience level, and where this aligns against our competency framework:

- Lead consultant: £91,000 - £110,000
