The role:
This role is to assist the Chief Actuary in fulfilling their statutory and other business responsibilities by ensuring the appropriateness of the methods, models and assumptions for technical provisions and to assess sufficiency and quality of data for technical provisions. You will provide opinions on underwriting and reinsurance and produce the Actuarial Function reports, including reports setting out the Chief Actuary's view of the methods, assumptions and results of the valuations produced by Finance. You will also assess the adequacy of the methods and assumptions used to calculate capital requirements and develop the capability and processes required to comply with the Solvency II regulatory requirements in relation to the actuarial function

**Responsibilities**:

- If you’re responsible for any legal agreements with third parties then you must make sure these are managed according to the Managing Contractual Relationships Framework. You’ll find your responsibilities as an expenditure authoriser set out in the financial procedures manual for your business (e.g. Prudential UK & Europe, PIA, PPMS)
- Make sure that all personal expenditure, and contractual and legal agreements are authorised, controlled and monitored according to our delegated authority requirements
- Understand our Code of Conduct and how it applies to your work. Comply with all relevant policies, including mandatory training
- Use your judgement to strengthen our positive risk and control culture, by identifying, assessing and managing risk within your business area
- Take all reasonable steps to make sure your business area fulfils its external regulatory, legal and industry obligations

**Experience**:

- Experience of drawing conclusions from complex > data sources
- Some experience of taking complex and ambiguous problems and quickly generating practical solutions
- Experience of constructively challenging and influencing a range of peers and stakeholders, including some outside of immediate function
- Some experience of financial reporting and actuarial modelling for a life Insurance company
- Some experience of communicating complex problems and issues effectively and succinctly to a variety of peers and managers

Knowledge:

- Working knowledge of the financial dynamics of the business and how key factors influence the various financial measures
- Working knowledge of Prudential products, systems and distribution methods
- Detailed knowledge of regulatory frameworks applicable to the UK business
- Working knowledge of actuarial professional standards and codes
- Understanding of the Statement of Principle and Code of Practice

Professional Qualifications:

- Qualified or near Qualified Actuary, a Fellow of the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries that follows the continued Professional Development requirements where relevant
