Location: Pembrokeshire. The role is based within our 2 offices in Haverfordwest, Pembroke Dock and various outreach locations to deliver advise to our young client group.

**Salary**: £19,353 per annum FTE (trainee), £18,306 (actual).

**Salary will increase to £20,971 FTE (£19,837 actual) on completion of training.**

Hours: 35 per week

Interview date: 2nd February 2023

Start date: As soon as possible.

**Overview of Citizens Advice**

The Citizens Advice service is made up of Citizens Advice - the national charity - and a network of around 250 local Citizens Advice members.

This role sits within our network of independent charities, delivering services from over 600 local Citizens Advice outlets over 1,800 community centres, GPs’ surgeries and prisons

They do this with:

- 6,500 local staff
- over 23,000 trained volunteers

Our reach means 99% of people in England and Wales can access a local Citizens Advice within a 30 minute drive of where they live.

**Under 25’s Money Talks - Financial Wellbeing Team**

A shared systems approach to addressing poverty and improving financial wellbeing for under 25-year-olds in Pembrokeshire.

Citizens Advice Pembrokeshire (CAP)will deliver high quality, person-centred welfare rights and income maximisation support to under 25-year-olds living or working in Pembrokeshire.

This post will be one of two Advisers who will work on the project alongside a project Co-ordinator who will lead on establishing and developing the project.

This project will empower participants to maximise their income, manage their money effectively, and take responsibility for their own financial decisions.

In order to achieve this, we will develop a multi-agency approach alongside existing and emerging anti-poverty initiatives in schools and community.

**The role**

After training, the adviser will take account of clients’ varied experiences/capability and address the issues that are most important to them.

The project team will deliver **financial capability / wellbeing workshops** and individual support in schools and community settings in order to:

- Improve knowledge and understanding of money management.
- Develop the confidence to make good decisions with money.
- Develop confidence to discuss their financial matters/debt with landlords, credit card companies, and banks and the ability to understand bank statements, credit card, store card statements etc.
- Understand about good debt (planned and manageable) and bad debt (unplanned and unmanageable)
- Maximise their income by taking good and timely advice.
- Increase their knowledge and understanding of how to manage their financial resources.
- Have increased confidence to participate in community learning activities.
- Have increased access to information and advice services.
- Report an increased sense of wellbeing.
- Volunteers will develop new skills to the benefit of themselves and their community.

**Role profile**

**Delivery of a programme of workshops**
- Work alongside the project co-ordinator to deliver financial capability / wellbeing workshops and individual support in schools and community settings.
- Support the production of resources for use in the delivery of sessions
- Work with young people to co-design the programme and resources content, to ensure we are flexible and responsive to the needs of under 25s.

**Advice Giving**

Ø Interview clients by telephone, or face to face using sensitive listening and questioning skills in order to allow clients to explain their problem(s) and empower them to set their own priorities.
