Retail Customer Assistant (Part-Time)
- Whitefriars, Norwich
- Overview
- Royal Voluntary Service cafés, shops and trolleys are staffed by employees and volunteers and provide an outstanding range of beverages and healthy food choices. Our customers love the fact that the money they spend with us pays for volunteer action in the community.
- The Role
- Working alongside a friendly team, you will participate in the day-to-day running of our café in the Courts in Whitefriars, Norwich.
- In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Providing friendly, helpful and efficient customer service at all times
- Operating the till and undertaking cash reconciliation as required
- Complying with Health and Safety, Food Hygiene, Data Protection, Financial controls and other operating policies and procedures
- Receiving incoming deliveries, distributing, maintaining and date rotating stock
- Assisting in the accurate completion of regular stock checks
- Assisting in the day-to-day co-ordination of the provision of volunteers to meet the operational requirements

Working Hours
- This is a permanent, part-time role working ten hours a week over two five-hour shifts, ideally on Thursday and Fridays
- What you’ll need
- Working in a Court requires a special kind of customer service. Your ability to communicate with people from all walks of life in a friendly and cheerful way will make a real difference to someone’s day. The key is to adapt your approach to each person to ensure their needs are met.
- You will need:
- Previous experience in a similar retail environment
- A willingness to undertake training and continuing professional development
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Good literacy and numeracy skills

Proficiency with industry-standard IT systems and knowledge of EPOS systems would be desirable, as would experience of general administrative processes.
