**Job title**:Positive Behaviour Support PBS Assistant
**Location**:West Midlands and Gloucester
**Salary**:£22,000-£24,000
**Role**:Full Time permanent
**Requirements**:
- Need to travel to the services in the region. West Midlands services are in Kings Heath, Edgbaston, Sutton Coldfield, Oscott, and Dudley.
- Experience of working within and implementing PBS framework, especially suited to someone who is a key worker or senior.
**Purpose**
As the PBS Assistant Practitioner, you will primarily be working in services supporting individuals and their staff teams to coach and model the PBS framework and support in completing functional assessments, collecting behavioural data, updating PBS Plans, and providing support to staff teams. This will be completed under the close supervision of the PBS Practitioners within the team.
**Responsibilities**
**Communication and relationships**
- Communicate appropriately and build trust and good rapport with the people we support, the staff who support them and service managers.
- Listen carefully and respectfully to the points of view of service staff and managers.
- Communicate professionally with families of the people we support and external agencies.
- Wherever possible communicate directly, face to face or on the phone with managers.
- Work as part of a service team and as part of the PBS team, having a co-operative attitude.
- Aim to be described as ‘helpful’, and ‘responsive’ by service staff and managers.
- Use a good standard of written communication.
- Prepare accurate relevant information as required.
**Development of PBS strategies**
- Analyse information (hard and soft data) carefully, avoiding making assumptions.
- Contribute to assessments, observations and assist in the formulation of appropriate interventions, under the supervision of the PBS Practitioner.
- Implement strategies to test their validity and effectiveness.
- Discuss possible interventions and strategies with service staff and managers before making any recommendations.
- Complete searches of evidence-based literature and research.
**Development of staff skills**
- Act as a positive role model always.
- Coach staff using the ‘demonstrate, observe and feedback’ model.
- Provide staff skills development sessions, individually and in groups.
- Support the development of training initiatives for people we support, families and staff.
