**Ward Host/ Patient Support Worker**

**HCA at UCH, London. Rotational role between our Grafton Way Building and Macmillan Cancer Centre**

**Full time, 40 hours per week, shifts between 0730 and 2000. Weekend working will be required on rotation**

**£27,352 per annum plus excellent benefits**

We have an exciting opportunity for a Patient Support Worker to join HCA at UCH. You will provide non-clinical support services to the patients and support the clinical staff in the delivery of essential support activities, which will help to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the ward, day unit and outpatient department. **Above all else, we’re committed to the care and improvement of human life. **What you'll do**:

- Prepare inpatient rooms ready for admission
- Ensure all items in patient rooms are in working order
- Stock up toiletries in patient rooms
- Replenishment of gloves/aprons and wipes in all ward areas
- Clean clinical equipment as required and maintain cleaning log
- Liaise with the housekeeping team regarding cleaning of patient rooms
- Be responsible for the delivery of blood samples within the facility and to the laboratory as required
- Weekly cleaning of the fridge in the Visitor Kitchens and staff rooms and ensure checklist is kept up to date
- Support with patient’s luggage upon admission/discharge as required
- Assist the nursing team as required
- Support with patient’s non clinical needs (escort patients to other departments within)

**What you'll bring**:

- Previous experience in a similar role within a healthcare setting is essential
- Flexible attitude
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
