In this high-profile role, you will utilise your excellent people management and influencing skills to develop and maintain effective relationships across all levels of the HEx organisation, Heathrow, Great Western Railway (GWR) and other key business partners. Responsible for ensuring that Heathrow Express services are operated safely and to contract specification by GWR and other external parties, the post holder will direct on HEx safety and assurance governance and reporting and ensure regulatory compliance with industry bodies as required by our Train Operators License. The key point of contact for external bodies on safety and compliance, you’ll also steer our safety reporting.
- Visible leadership to create and deliver GWR safety, fleet and business resilience assurance strategy on behalf of HEx. This will include providing assurance that business and reputational risks relating to HEx services are being effectively identified and managed.
- Driving a positive safety culture through the effective engagement of colleagues in close call reporting.
- Guiding HEx safety governance and reporting, including to the Heathrow Express Operating Company Board (Safety and Ops Committee) and HAL Safety & Operational Risk Commitee.
- Working with Heathrow Fire, Health & Safety Business Partner and Commercial management teams to meet Occupational Safety and Fire Safety requirements and standards for HEx employees.
- Acting as Crisis Response Lead on-call. Managing relationships with contract partners to ensure business resilience processes and procedures align and minimise impact of safety and operational incidents on the HEx customers and reputation.
- Line management responsibilities.
- Excellent communicator, with proven ability to influence and challenge effectively across all levels of an organisation and in a multi-stakeholder environment.
- Team player; able to stand behind decisions and land key messages with the business.
- Strong, demonstrable problem solving skills. Curious mindset, ability to probe and get to the root of issues.
- Established report writing experience.
- Line management experience, preferably gained in an operational setting.
- Sound analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present data in a meaningful way and experience of using databases to support business processes.

**These skills are beneficial**:

- Heath and Safety or Operations Manager experience in a railway environment. NEBOSH qualification (gained or working towards).
