Job Introduction
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, and energetic Swimming coordinator who is able to develop, lead and manage a new swimming school at George Watson’s College. The coordinator will be responsible for the planning and delivery of the swim school lessons over a 3 day period of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.
- 20 hours per week
- 3 days required in the Centre on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, totalling a

minimum of 12 hours. These core hours will be 3pm - 7pm
- The remaining 8 hours are flexible working hours that suit the requirements of the

business and the needs of the swim school. These hours can be worked in the club or

remotely.
- It is anticipated that the remaining hours are to be completed Monday to Friday, although

weekend working may be required and determined by the business needs of the Swim

School.

Main Responsibilities
- To be responsible for the successful implementation and running of the Swim school. This will involve all required administration functions including enrolment, class programming and staffing
- To be responsible for the recruitment of Swim Teachers for the Swim school
- To line manage the Swim School team including training and development, as well as responsibility for organising staff rotas
- To be responsible for ensuring an excellent level of teaching is delivered to customers that is engaging and leading the Swim Teachers so that lessons are being delivered at all times to a high standard
- To be responsible for developing creative and innovative classes following the Scottish Swimming Learn to Swim framework
- Demonstrate and deliver an attitude of positive customer relations and ensure that a high level of customer service is maintained at all times
- Provide a safe and enjoyable environment for all users within the pool and surrounding areas
- To be able to develop and implement successful methods of communication across the wider Centre for Sport team and between your Swim Teachers and parents
- To support the partnership with Scottish Swimming and approved training providers to successfully deliver a range of swimming teaching courses and CPD sessions
- To be familiar with, and work within, the required Health and Safety standards as laid out in the School’s policies
- Provide a safe and secure environment for customers, colleagues and others
- Ensure that all equipment and the pool area is in safe working order at all times and that adequate quantities are available
- Identify and Develop additional opportunities for revenue growth
- Adhere to on-going Sports Centre policies, procedures and systems
- Promote, wherever possible and to all potential customers, the facilities and activities of the Galleon
- Qualification in Swim teaching is essential
- Current RLSS life saving qualification is desirable or willing to work towards
- Proven record of working in a successful teaching environment
- Proven customer service experience and experience of problem solving
- An understanding of identifying staff training and development requirements and identifying development opportunities
- A high awareness of industry developments, new activities, trends and research.
- Commercial awareness which translates into contributing to a successful and financially viable operation
- Flexible approach to working hours
- Excellent Communication Skills with the strength or character to be assertive
