Role Summary:
The Assistant Underwriter (AU) will provide dedicated support to the Underwriting team in the Offshore Renewable Energy class of business. Whilst providing administrative support, the AU will be exposed to AXIS underwriting philosophy and guidelines, including our rating tools and risk aggregation methodology. There will also be opportunities for international collaboration through working with our teams in Singapore and the US to broaden market and product knowledge. The role would be a progressive step towards building specialist knowledge in the Offshore Renewable Energy class of business and a career as an Offshore Renewable Energy Underwriter.

Key Responsibilities:
Administrative duties to assist the Offshore Renewable Energy underwriting team:

- Maintenance of underwriting e-files.
- Initiation, checking and management of data entry, premium booking, and credit control processes.
- Liaising with various parties (operations team, accounting department, brokers) for premium issues such as premium reconciliation, outstanding premiums, and other accounting issues.
- Liaising with brokers on new business and renewals, and attending client meetings.
- Logging of risk submissions received.
- Generation of policy renewal lists and tracking of policy renewals throughout the year, including sending out renewal reminders to brokers.
- Working on Executive Summaries and quote peer reviews.

Assisting with generation and checking of underwriting reports:

- Checking of Weekly Premium Movement reports.
- Checking of Monthly Claim Movement reports.
- Ad hoc generation of underwriting reports as required.

Ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal procedures:

- Sanctions screening and checks.
- Completion of MAS Contract Certainty checklists for each risk written and checking of monthly Contract Certainty reports.
- Attending to internal and external auditors’ enquiries.

Learning about the Insurance industry and Offshore Renewable Energy market:

- Work towards obtaining an Advanced Diploma in Insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK), if this hasn’t yet been attained.
- Market research of the Insurance and Offshore Renewable Energy industries.
- Client research (for both potential and existing clients).
- Attending client/broker meetings and/or virtual presentations.

Required qualifications and experience:

- Diploma / Degree holder
- Preferably with 3+ years of relevant experience in the Renewable Energy (Re)Insurance sector.
- Good working knowledge in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel and Kofax PDF Editor
