We have a great opportunity for an experienced registered nurse with community experience to join our Youth Justice Nursing Team.

You must be a motivated and forward-thinking individual with experience of working with vulnerable children, young people and their families.

Have excellent communication skills, be aspirational and adaptable to be able to undertake a comprehensive health assessment with children & young people who are known to the Youth Justice Service.

You must be able to demonstrate active clinical expertise within the team and across partner agencies, providing training, support and consultation to other professionals.

The post holder will have the ability to work using a multi-agency partnership approach to promote health and contribute to tackling health inequalities in line with local and national guidelines, public health priorities and Safeguarding responsibilities.

To offer & provide Health Assessments to children and young people known to the Local Authority Youth Justice Service.

Develop interventions specific to the identified health and development needs of the young people open to the Youth Justice Service.

To provide appropriate time limited support and / or intensive support when a specific health need is identified within their own community setting.

Work in close partnership with Youth Justice and other key stakeholders across Nottingham City & County.

To demonstrate active clinical expertise within the team and across partner agencies, providing training, support and consultation to other professionals.

Support the Service Manager with development of the services performance capability undertake or co-ordinate service improvement and governance initiatives, supporting the development of policy and practice and deputise for the Service Manager.

To undertake a holistic health assessment as part of the Asset Plus Framework. Implement and evaluate safe, effective targeted interventions in collaboration with the young person’s identified needs, their carers and other professionals.

To work in partnership with the local authority youth justice service, social care, sexual health services, universal services and police, contributing to the operational development of services for youth justice services. Co-ordinating care where appropriate using specialist knowledge of local pathways and service provision in line with young people’s health and safeguarding needs.

To use specialist knowledge to analyse and formulate evidence-based health interventions designed to reduce stress and anxiety, manage risk and support recovery.

To maintain high quality accurate, timely and relevant clinical records both written and computerised. To adhere to information governance policies.

To offer professional consultation for Youth Justice Service case managers, residential staff, social workers, education providers, etc in line with the assessed health needs of the young person.

The health assessments contribute to court and other specialist reports as requested by Youth Justice Service.

Work flexibly with colleagues to ensure service requirements are provided in a timely manner, which may include the need to cover for colleagues in times of absence or to meet local fluctuations in workload.
