**National Standard Instructor/Cycle Instructor**
Work as a Cycle Instructor within our Cycle department. This role requires an energetic, motivated, and personable individual who has experience working with or coaching young people, with a passion and knowledge for Cycling. Professionalism and reliability are equally important to maintain strong working relationships with clients and the current cycle instructor team.

First Step Cycle, part of the First Step Sports Group is a cycle training organisation specialising in the delivery of on road cycle training for all ages including; Bikeability levels 1, 2 and 3, community and adult cycle training.
First Step Cycle is one of the Yorkshire region’s leading cycle training and events specialists, with extensive knowledge and hands on experience, with a dedicated in-house team of talented, qualified trainers.
First Step Cycle is passionate about the people we train as well as promoting cycling and increasing the number of people cycling regularly, by building their competence and confidence.

**The Position**
We are seeking keen cyclists, who will work as part of a team to deliver fun, safe and informative Bikeability Training for pupils, inline with the standards set by the Department of Transport.
This is an opportunity for a confident, individual who can work independently and within a team and is committed to delivering quality cycle sessions, able to deliver and excel by prioritising both customer and company expectations.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist with the delivery of National Standard Cycle training as organised by First Step Sports.
- Complete course paperwork including registers, assessments, course reports and results.
- Complete risk assessments of the trainees, cycles, and the training area (including on-road locations).
- Collection of consent forms at the start of training sessions.
- Accountable for the safety and welfare of colleagues and trainees.
- Ensure training is delivered in line with First Step Sports’ health and safety policy with an awareness of accident and incident reporting procedures.
- Enable trainees to cycle safely, promoting cycling as a means of transport and a fun, healthy activity.
- Research and continuously develop skills.
- Assisting with Cycle promotion/development
- Dress professionally - In line with the First Step Sports Uniform.
- Adhere to the First Step Sports Delivery Standard.

**Knowledge and Experience Requirements**:

- Regular and competent cyclist.
- Understanding and awareness of road and traffic environments.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all trainees including children, parents, and schools.
- Be decisive, maintain good discipline, inspire confidence, and give encouragement.
- Be enthusiastic about cycling with an understanding of cycling as a sport, means of transport, leisure pursuit and healthy form of exercise.
- First Aid and Child Protection Training - Desirable (training will be provided if required)
- Understand basic cycle maintenance - Desirable.
- 1 years’ experience with children; teaching or voluntary.
- GCSE Maths and English.
