The specialist Rainbow Clinic Midwife will be responsible for continuing to develop, expand and implement high quality care to women, their partners and family throughout the pregnancy continuum following baby loss. S/he will work in partnership with the Lead Obstetricians in Stillbirth and all members of the multidisciplinary team, providing expert advice, midwifery care and support to parents. They will be providing support to women at risk of stillbirth and will be expected to support women attending the St Mary’s Rainbow Clinic and refer them to appropriate agencies as required.

This midwife will be responsible for providing specialist skills and visible leadership for all staff working in partnership with the bereavement service within the maternity unit and contributing to the modernisation across the managed clinical service of MFT and wider. The midwife will also actively contribute to clinical governance initiatives including risk management and standards for care.

The role must be underpinned by continuing professional development to maintain the expert knowledge of the practitioner. It is expected that the midwife will participate in audit and development of the service and be involved with the business planning process.
