Part-time position.

We are currently looking for a part time band 2 Phlebotomist / Physical Health Assistant, who will be working as a member of the District Nursing Community Team within the Peterborough teams, undertaking delegated duties in order to meet the needs of the service users. You will be trained and supervised by registered professionals and will be expected to follow a plan of care based on the specific needs of the service users. Your working hours would be Monday to Friday working between the hours of 9am-2pm.

Please note for this job you will be required to travel independently around the county meeting strict time deadlines.

**We are ideally looking for people who have**:

- Experience of working within the community
- Experience working as a Phlebotomist
- Experience of caring for and supporting adults and older people
- The ability to demonstrate a commitment to high quality service provision
- The ability to work flexibly and as part of a team, as well as individually
- The ability to travel
- Computer skills including use of Health Electronic Patient records e.g. SystmOne, EPIC, EMIS
- Good time management and the ability to manage individual workload
- Enhanced communication and interpersonal skills.

As a community phlebotomist you would be supporting the Neighbourhood team with venepuncture within the Peterborough locality, supporting housebound patients.

You will need to have previous experience as a phlebotomist.

Ideally previous experience working in the community.

The primary activity for this role will be supporting service users with their physical health needs including venepuncture, taking Blood Pressure, weight and height and other tasks as required. This will require working across several Neighbourhood teams.
- The post holder will provide support and care for service users with mental and physical health needs and to their carers within a multidisciplinary setting. They will undertake assigned tasks as a lone worker but with support from a registered nurse, including assisting in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care.
- The post holder will be trained to ensure that issues of equality, diversity and rights are dealt with in accordance with good practice and legislation.

Main Tasks,

**Responsibilities**:

- To undertake physical health checks including venepuncture, taking BP, and other tasks as required.
- To work across NTs and community clinics if required
- Support the nurse in charge NT in maintaining essential stocks.
- To promote a positive service user experience throughout their stay through proactive listening, being responsive to issues raised and through resolving issues and concerns raised by service users with colleagues and senior members of the team.
- To be responsible for maintaining and conducting oneself in a professional manner towards service users, carers, colleagues and other agencies, at all times.
- To participate in working collaboratively with other Trust services and external agencies to provide seamless care for service users.
- To observe and report to a registered member of the team, any changes which may indicate an alteration in the general wellbeing and safety of a service user. This would include observations around the service user’s presentation, behaviour, mood and verbal content.
- To provide service users with personal care, where and when required, and demonstrate empathy, dignity, respect and compassion at all times.
- To understand the importance of the relatives/carers contribution to care and conversing with the service users and their relatives/carers, establishing their needs and assisting them as necessary.
- Empower service users by ensuring that they receive relevant information about their treatment, medication, available services, advocacy services, ward routines and safety procedures under the guidance of a registered nurse.
- Working in partnership with the service user to access a range of activities and services to maintain their independence. Promoting healthy activities and lifestyle choices.
